We installed seven parking lot pole lights and nine bollards at the Hillel Center in Blacksburg.

The Malcolm Rosenberg Hillel Center was completed in 2013 but had no exterior lighting in the parking lot or along sidewalks. We installed multiple LED fixtures to increase the safety, security and aesthetics of the facility after daylight hours. 

The high-efficiency 750 watt-equivalent LED pole lights consume only 80 watts- a 90% reduction when compared to traditional HID technology. Matching bollards have four interchangeable LED engine modules for directed lighting, effectively eliminating light pollution.

Located in the Chrisman Mill neighborhood of Christiansburg, this $24 million project was completed in 2021 and will supply water to the growing communities of Crab Creek and Chrisman Mill. A 500 kilowatt diesel-powered generator ensures uninterrupted power to the facility's three 200-horsepower

pumps.

Work included extensive under- slab piping, a site-wide SCADA system, surge suppression equipment, and an array of valve and pump sensors.

Venture Out specializes in outdoor adventure recreation for Virginia Tech students and the greater community. This facility is a 5,000 square-foot space located on Beamer Way, including a rock climbing wall, kitchen, offices and outdoor equipment space. The LED lighting in the facility is intelligently controlled through daylight and occupancy sensors, reducing energy waste. A 3-phase 400-amp main panel feeds various building elements including an overhead coiling door for the kayak storage area, CCTV monitoring and card readers, and an industrial washer-extractor for efficient laundry processing. The 2.2 million dollar project was completed in January 2021.

Roots Natural Kitchen is located in a 2,000-square-foot space in the new University Crossroads shopping center off Prices Fork Road. The LED lighting in the building is controlled by a centralized Legrande Wattstopper panel, which intelligently controls lighting usage for increased energy efficiency. A blend of modern track fixtures and copper pendant lighting create a cozy vibe in the campus eatery. A 400-amp main panel powers several commercial appliances including a double convection oven and rice cooker, and an extensive CCTV system provides extra security for employees and customers. The restaurant opened its doors in October 2020. 

This 12,000-square-foot brewery opened its doors in the summer of 2019 and boasts a production area, full kitchen, tasting room, and a large vaulted dining room with space for 200 guests. The yearlong project included LED remote control lighting, a fire alarm system, 2 Big Ass Fans, and power and control wiring for brewing and kitchen equipment. To power the building we installed an 800-amp service which feeds three panels throughout the facility. We enjoyed the challenge of creating an aesthetically pleasing installation for brewery guests in an otherwise industrial environment.

​We completed work on the new airplane hangar at the Virginia Tech Montgomery Executive Airport in January 2019. There are twelve total aircraft bays and each features a huge bi-fold door big enough to allow entry for short-haul private or commercial aircraft.

The project included standard power and lighting installation, as well as some specialized equipment to address aircraft fuel hazardous locations.

This project was designed to maintain the

reliability of the New River Valley's water supply as the region continues to grow. Two 100-horsepower pumps, with room for a third in the future, deliver pressure to the water main on Prices Fork Road. An updated SCADA control system was also installed, allowing several municipalities to coordinate pumping schedules.

The project included installation of a 300 kW Cummins standby generator to maintain pressure even in the event of a utility failure.

We replaced 260 HID lighting fixtures with LED equivalents at the BT garage. Intelligent lighting controls to reduce excessive energy

usage were also part of the project. Each fixture included a daylight and occupancy sensor to control light output and power consumption based on time of day and occupant usage.

Since we completed the project in late 2017, the Blacksburg Transit station electric bills have been reduced by 25%.
